Accessibility Remodels
LIFE has enough barriers.
Your home shouldn't be one of themFACING CHALLENGES ... In Standard Home Design
Life throws all of us a curve now and then.
Maybe you've slowed down a step or two. Or maybe a loved one is faced with a more serious health issue. Whatever the reason, if you or a loved one have had a change in mobility, then dealing with your new situation can be hard enough without feeling like your own house is working against you.
We understand.
The house you were used to just doesn't seem to "fit" any more. Or the simple tasks of just getting up and around are becoming more and more challenging. Even worse, your house could be dangerous for you, your loved ones, or caretakers. Let's face it. A standard house design just doesn't work for people with physical impairments. Even homes with open floor plans can have built-in barriers: 90-degree turns, stairs, and narrow doors. For a person facing mobility challenges, a home can quickly go from a sanctuary to an inconvenience.
It doesn't have to be that way!

Jason Robertson, owner of Star Builders, LLC, has been around construction sites his whole life. His grandfather was a builder, his father was a builder, and now he's continuing the family tradition. Jason's family has a long, proud history of working with accessibility issues. For over thirty years, his father built large-project retirement facilities. But sometimes it's the simple jobs that make the biggest impacts. Dennis asked Jason to remodel a bed and bath area for his father who recently had a stroke and had lost some mobility. His dad needed a careworker and the manufactured home he lived in just wasn't designed for his father's condition. It really was an unsafe environment for Dad and for the caregivers, Dennis said. t put both of them at risk for injury. It seemed like a standard remodel: widen some doors, install a roll-in shower, move a toilet, take out a wall. Simple enough. Until Jason saw how much the remodel meant to Dennis and his dad. The changes in Dad were something. It meant a lot to us to see him enjoy being back at home and knowing he'd be able to stay in his own home rather than have to move out. Seeing the impact that this simple remodel made on this family and how much it meant to them was Jason's inspiration to launch the Accessibility Remodels Program.
